I've learned that changing habits works better than setting goals.
Don't set a New Year 2023 goal!!
They say 87% of people don't fulfill their goals two weeks later. Not good odds.
If you want a change, you have to change.
Create NEW Habits in 2023!
You have to stop a habit (a routine) and start a new one.
Want to try it? Here is what you do.
1. Take a piece of paper out and write down habits or routines that are not working for you. List the top five.
2. On another piece of paper, write down what you want. Next to it, write down what habit or routine you have to change in order to get what you want.
3. On another piece of paper, write down five new habits or routines.
4. Commit to this for 21 days.
5. Make it fun and reward yourself.
6. Know the triggers that will bring you back, and acknowledge them, but don't give in.
I did this a month ago on five habits I wanted to change.
Five Old habits/routines:
1. Not getting right out of bed when I awoke.
2. Not going to bed by 10:30 p.m.
3. Scrolling on social media as a time waster.
4. Not journaling what I was eating so I was being an unconscious eater.
5. Not time blocking my day like I had before.
Five New habits/routines:
1. Get up at 6 a.m. and make my bed.
2. Go to bed by 10:30 p.m.
3. Only look at social media for 15 minutes each day.
4. Write everything I eat and drink (10 glasses of water a day)
5. Time blocking every morning for my biz and life.
I also added:
6. Learn something new everyday.
7. Read a chapter a day of the books I am reading.
8. Journal my day.
9. Connect with a friend or family everyday.
Now, one month later I have established a new routine - new habits.
There wasn't a goal to strive for. It is a life-change which is seeing wonderful rewards in my life.
